Young People

Children and families are a valued part of the life of our parish. We are deeply committed to their involvement, to their development and to their thriving as important members of our community.

The main focus of our activity with children is on Sunday mornings at 9.30am (at St Mary's) and 11.30am (at Christ Church) when, alongside the liturgy of the Eucharist there is Sunday School provision. But we are also committed to weekly activities that invite children and families into our church.

Young people are an important part of the life of our parish. Kids' Café is our weekly children's programme engaging with Primary School age children meeting on Tuesday afternoons during term-time.  Young people are also encouraged to participate in the worshipping life of both churches; at Christ Church we have a large group who serve at the altar and at St Mary's we have a junior choir as well as our serving team. We are keen for children to feel part of our community and so we strongly encourage them to get involved.

Our parish has provided education in Hendon for over 300 years and still plays a very active role in the life of our parish school, St Mary's & St John's, Church of England School. The school come to church at least once a week, and the clergy lead weekly assemblies and the Vicar plays an imporant role on the governing body.

There are lots of opportunities for children and families to get involved in the life of our church - ask the clergy or our group leaders for more details.
