St Mary's boasts an historic and extensive churchyard. As well as being the resting-place for many of Hendon's residents over the centuries, it is also a haven for wildlife, trees and plants.
In 2009 a dedicated team set to work to bring the churchyard back to life after many years of neglect. The churchyard has been transformed in that time and exudes a quiet beauty and sense of peace making it one of the best maintained churchyards around.
As a group, we normally meet together on the second Saturday of the month (weather permitting). Some volunteers help when they can at other times. New volunteers to assist with regular mowing of the lawns and light gardening are always appreciated. If you would like to contribute in any way to the upkeep of the churchyard please do get in touch with us, either through one of the team if you see them on a Saturday or via the Parish Office.
