Our parish serves a large suburban part of North London, with a population of roughly 23,000. The parish includes, to the west, Five Ways Corner and the Hendon Central area; to the south, Hendon Park and part of Brent Cross shopping centre; to the east Holders Hill (including Hendon Cemetery), Mill Hill East tube station and Finchley golf club; to the north, Hendon golf club and Allianz Park Stadium
Hendon is a diverse area in terms of cultural, ethnic and religious identity, and has a broad social mix. There is a large Jewish community. The main campus of Middlesex University is close to St Mary’s Church, as is the Burroughs, the administrative heart of Hendon, including its town hall and library. There are many schools in the parish, including our all-through Church of England School, St Mary's and St John's across three sites.
Church End, with its farmhouse, Greyhound pub and St Mary’s Church, still has resonances of the ancient village set on a hill. Christ Church is on Brent Street, one of the main roads running through the parish.
